HiSCS has successfully completed the installation of a specialized expansion joint at an industrial building currently under construction in Markopoulo, Athens, Greece.
The project demanded exceptional precision and meticulous execution to ensure the expansion joint was installed perfectly flush with the industrial flooring system, maintaining the required elevations and performance standards across the facility.
Expansion joints are a critical component in industrial and commercial buildings, designed to accommodate the natural movement of structures caused by temperature fluctuations, material shrinkage, seismic activity, and operational loads. By allowing controlled movement between different sections of a building, expansion joints help prevent cracking, floor damage, structural stress, and costly maintenance issues, ultimately extending the service life of the facility while ensuring operational safety and continuity.
Attention was given to material selection, as the expansion joint is installed within a food freezing facility operating at a constant average temperature of -20°C. Such demanding conditions require specialized materials capable of maintaining their mechanical properties, durability, and performance under extreme thermal exposure while meeting the strict hygiene and operational requirements of the food industry.
This project highlights HiSCS’s commitment to precision, quality, and the use of specialized solutions for demanding industrial environments.
