HiSCS Inspectors accomplished successfully the external inspection, while in service, of three (3) crude oil storage tanks located in a desalination plant in the province of Jazan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The inspection was in line with the American Petroleum Institute (API) 653 Standard “Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration & Reconstruction” with a scope to establish the corrosion rates, the remaining life and verify the integrity and safe operation of the tanks.
A thorough visual inspection took place to foundation, shells, floating roof, appurtenances including all pipe networks, nozzles and valves as well as dump accessories and alarming systems.
Non-Destructive examination using MT, Thermography and UT technology including a crawler robot has been utilized to configure the minimum thickness of the shells and roof. Furthermore, a topographic survey analysis has been performed to record tanks settlement.
Tanks basic dimensions:
Diameter: 80.039m
Total Height: 23.6m
Capacity per tank: 110.534m3
The works have been accomplished by a team of Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors, NDT technicians and assistants (in total 12) working continuously for a period of about 2 weeks in a demanding environment respecting work permits and safety inductions on daily basis. The relevant inspection and evaluation reports have been delivered to the Owner/Operator for further perusal and actions.
